Day Of Travel Turns Into Nightmare For Many Travelers Because Of Snowy And Icy Road Conditions.

Even for the most experienced drivers, snow and ice can make driving extremely dangerous. This is especially true when traveling on the interstate, at high rates of speed, when an accident already has the potential to be life-threatening. During winter, a driver’s visibility can be decreased significantly. Vehicles may spin out of control and stopping can take a significantly longer time. It is every driver’s duty to act in a safe and considerate manner. If you are involved in an accident, one way to help start recovering is to bring a personal injury claim with an experienced snow and ice accident attorney.  The attorneys at the Law Offices of Gilbert R. Hoy, Jr. and Affiliates are able to help guide you through the often difficult litigation process.

At least five people are dead after wintry conditions in Missouri triggered more than 650 accidents that shut down roadways and left dozens injured. Missouri state police confirmed the death of 63 year-old Deborah Anderson, who died in a 12-vehicle pileup on eastbound I-44 Sunday.  Highway Patrol Trooper Jason Pace told the Springfield, Missouri News-Leader that a 55 year-old man died after his tractor-trailer crashed into a separate pileup.  A crash on westbound I-44 at mile 144 resulted in an unknown number of injuries.

In addition, two people were airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries after a 30-vehicle pileup at mile 186 near Rolla, Missouri. Authorities blamed icy road conditions for the crashes, which injured more than 70 people. According to Trooper Pace, the area near I-44’s 106 mile marker saw between 60 and 80 accidents. That was just part of a dangerous day for travel as snow and freezing rain spread over most of the state.
