Ice Missile Crashes Through Driver’s Windshield On Highway Sending Glass Throughout Vehicle.

When drivers don’t take the necessary precautions when driving, they are essentially placing additional risks on themselves and all others on the road for causing or being involved in an accident. These precautions are amplified during the winter months when snow and ice left on a car, and not properly removed prior to driving, can fly off at high rates of speed causing damage to other cars. If you ever have an ice missile fly off a nearby vehicle and strike your car, causing damage, you should turn to one of the experienced Boston car accident personal injury lawyers or expert snow and ice attorneys at the Law Offices of Gilbert R. Hoy, Jr. and Affiliates to help guide you through the process.

Andru Duranso, of Dover, Delaware, was driving on Interstate 95 earlier this year, just south of where 295 splits, when a large piece of ice flew off a tractor trailer rig and crashed through the windshield of his SUV. Glass flew all over his lap, the passenger’s seat and throughout his SUV.  The ice missile also sheared off his passenger-side, rear-view mirror, but fortunately, he was not injured.

Apparently, this was a common occurrence in the area because police notified Mr. Duranso that he wasn’t the only one that this happened to that day. While Delaware does not have a specific snow or ice removal law on the books, since 2014, there have been several bills introduced that would allow officers to fine drivers who have not properly cleared their vehicles. But, so far, no legislation has been passed in the state. In states like Pennsylvania and New Jersey, you can be fined up to $1,000 if ice and snow flying off your vehicle injures someone or causes damage.
