A two-car head-on collision this past Sunday, March 30, 2014, resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to two others. York County, Pennsylvania Police are investigating the circumstances of the auto crash.
A tragic two-car accident took place on Sunday afternoon in Dover Township, PA. A 16 year-old male operator was driving northbound on Carlisle Road, when he lost control of the 1997 Jeep Cherokee and crossed into the oncoming traffic. The Jeep crashed head-on into a 2001 Dodge Durango, causing the Jeep to flip over. Police pulled the young driver and his passenger out of the vehicle and rushed both to nearby hospital emergency room.
The young driver has survived, but he is in serious condition. The passenger, 52 year-old Karen Lee Jackson, died from her personal injuries. The driver of the Durango only had minor personal injuries as a result of the car accident.
The police believe that driver inexperience coupled with icy slick road conditions are to blame for Sunday’s accident. Snow and icy accumulation made the Pennsylvania Route 74 road surface deceptively slick and unpredictable.
